How to Have Healthy Hair and Slow Down Hair Loss

First impressions are very important and include the look and health of the hair. While most people who are over the age of 40 concentrate on anti-aging skincare regimen keeping your hair healthy and soft will also help you look younger and help the hair maintains strength. Some coloring products help to moisturize and condition the hair to improve its strength in appearance.

If you choose to color do not go more than two shades darker or lighter. Going lighter can damage the hair and going darker may emphasize your complexion and make you appear older. There is really nothing more beautiful than a full head of healthy, gray hair.

Manufacturers have specially formulated shampoos and conditioners specific to the challenges of individuals who are older. Deep conditioning the hair once a week and using a hydrating moisturizing conditioner every time you wash is essential to keeping gray hair soft and supple.

Concern about photoaging and damage from the sun is usually limited to the skin. However, protection from the sun for the hair it also important. Some shampoos have been developed with sunscreens specifically for use on the hair. Others sunscreen products are spray on and help to protect gray hair from the damaging UVA and UVB rays.

Many manufacturing companies are racing to find sun protection and anti-aging treatments for haircare because of the impact that damaged hair has on the appearance of an individual. Some manufacturing companies are also adding ingredients to their current products claiming to fight the visible signs of aging hair.

In Europe, not currently approved by the Food Drug Administration, are products which claim to fight the visible signs of aging incorporating vitamins, essential oils and micro-silicones to protect and nourish mature hair.

But if you don’t live in Europe, it isn’t necessary to move there in order to take care of your hair appropriately. By incorporating deep moisturizing treatments once a week, improving your overall nutrition to feed the hair follicles appropriately and using shampoos specifically designed for aging hair you can improve your overall youthful appearance.

Why Eat Healthy Foods? Your Help is Needed

When I’m asked “Why eat healthy foods?” I have to reply, “We need to save this planet.” The oxygen level on our planet is decreasing while toxic chemical air increases.

When you select organic or sustainably grown foods, you are helping to create a healthier planet and you may become healthier as well.

How Sustainable Farming Provides more Oxygen

We have a valid exchange between plants and animals – man included. Plants provide oxygen and require carbon dioxide to survive. We provide carbon dioxide and require oxygen to live.

If you have ever been close to an aerial spraying of pesticides designed to kill insects, you will have a good idea how it decreases the oxygen content in the air and kills life. There have been such spraying in California over the last 20 years for one reason or another. People have gotten sick from them.

“Over 98% of sprayed insecticides and 95% of herbicides reach a destination other than their target species, including nontarget species, air, water, bottom sediments, and food.” Reference: wikipedia.com “Miller GT (2004), Sustaining the Earth, 6th edition.”

Hazards of Altered Food Products

Today we have genetically modified foods that are hidden from the consumers. I just read today in my World-Wire Newsletter that a petition has been filed requesting the FDA to take specific actions and ban hormonal meats:

“Of particular concern are the increased risks of hormonal cancers since 1975: breast by 23%, prostate by 60%, and testes by 60%,”

You can read the full story at world-wire.com:

“A Ban on Hormonal Meat is Three Decades Overdue””CHICAGO, IL, February 2, 2010 –/WORLD-WIRE/– On January 29, 2010, with three other scientific experts, Samuel S. Epstein, MD, Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, filed a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Petition seeking an urgent ban on hormonal meat, as it poses unrecognized risks of hormonal cancers.”

I usually do not focus my articles on such negative information but I see that this information has been hidden for 30 years and I feel it is something you need to be aware of.

We are now struggling to hold onto our basic farming principles. Our small farmers need all the support they can get. If you have a local farmers market, make a weekly visit for your share of truly wholesome foods.

Points to Consider When Buying Food

How is the food grown – avoid synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilizers. These do not promote a healthy living environment. Instead they pollute the air and water reducing healthy life on our planet. As an alternative, locate sustainably or organically grown foods and support healthy microorganisms in the soil, cleaner air and water.

Selecting animal foods – avoid factory farm raised animals. These farms raise and slaughter animals in an inhumane way. When you ignore their procedures and eat their meats anyway, you are supporting them and they will not change. Instead, they grow and we become as unhealthy as their ill treated animals.

A better way… look for free-range animals that are allowed to live normal lives. One example of such a farm is the Lindner Bison Ranch in California. I am inspired by their love for their animals while they provide an ethical example for other food animal farms.

Our Small Farmers Need Support

As profits became more important than health of the consumers, we began losing our foothold on good farming practices. The chemical industries saw opportunity in agricultural and began selling their wares to farmers here in the United States at the end of World War II. Those that bought, changed their ethical farming practices and provided less than wholesome foods.

Healthy Home and Family And Toxic Threats – What To Do

I am a concerned mother and I thought everyone should know that a lot of very harmful chemicals have found their way into our common household products. Apparently, the FDA claims that they only monitor foods and drugs (not household cleaners and other household items) as stated in their name, Food and Drug Administration. So guess who is left monitoring non-food and drug items? You go it, no one. So it is up to us, the consumer to check these things out for ourselves, like we do not have enough to do without this. Hard to believe? Do you have any Johnson and Johnson baby wash lying around? It contains Quaternium-15, a formaldehyde-releasing preservative. You go it, the stuff they use to preserve dead bodies. Well, it is not so healthy for live bodies either.

Actually, it is a known and proven cancer causing agent, a carcinogen, and it becomes a gas that stays in the air of our homes, so that all our dearest loved ones and our selves can breathe it in. I am not just talking about one manufacturing company; they all have not so well known ingredients and surprise toxins. I am not saying I blame them either. They want to make money and these chemicals are known to achieve the goals of the product and they are cheap to produce. But that does not mean that I want to use them to poison MY family. The EPA says that indoor pollution is two to five times worse than outdoor pollution. It is therefore not hard to understand how a 15 year study found women that stay at home are 54% more likely too die of cancer than those that go out of the house (for a job, for example).

We do not even realize what kinds of poisons we are bringing into our homes. I have decided for myself to get all these toxins out of my home but I do not have time to check out every product and each of its individual ingredients. What is needed is a trustworthy green company that is manufacturing wellness products that are not killing us, our family, the environment, and the world. But things also need to be affordable. I found one company that looks pretty good. I now use these products. I have done a lot of research and have not been able to find better products anywhere. If I do find better products, I will use them instead. I will list the link in the Author section, in accordance with the rules of this site.
